In conjunction with International Women’s Day and World Wildlife Day, SFC participated in the UNODC Symposium on “The Role of Women and Gender Perspectives in Wildlife Crime and Crimes in the Fisheries Sector” held in Hanoi, Vietnam.

SFC was represented by Ivy Esra Matius and Jenny Machau. Through her work, Ivy contributes to community engagement and conservation awareness, while Jenny is involved in wildlife enforcement and protection efforts, both supporting the fight against wildlife crime and safeguarding Sarawak’s biodiversity.

Together with experts from law enforcement, policy, and academician, the symposium explored how women are shaping the fight against wildlife and fisheries crime, from frontline enforcement to policy leadership.

This dialogue highlighted several important truths:
Effective wildlife protection requires inclusive perspectives.
Women are not only part of the system, they are driving change.

SFC remains committed to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for women, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to conservation, enforcement, and the protection of Sarawak’s natural heritage.
